Hong Kong's Archaeological Finds from the Antiquities and Monuments Office

As early as the late 1970's, archaeologists began carrying out surveys and investigations on the Chek Lap Kok Island. Large scale excavations started in 1990 prior to the construction of a new airport. The excavation has brought to light a large quantity of artefacts.

The exhibition showcases 31 sets of artefacts of stone, pottery, porcelain, quartz rings and bronze coins, excavated from various local sites, including the Chek Lap Kok Island which cover a long historic period spanning from the Neolithic period to the Qing dynasty. This exhibition aims to give visitors a greater insight into the past and life of Hong Kong's early inhabitants, and enhance their understanding of cultural heritage of Hong Kong.
