The Third Greater Pearl River Delta Conservation Training Workshop

The Third Greater Pearl River Delta Conservation Training Workshop

Following meticulous organization and careful planning, the Third Greater Pearl River Delta Conservation Training Workshop was successfully held from November 7 to 14 across Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Macao. The training program received significant attention from the cultural and museum sectors of the three regions, attracting active participation from numerous conservation professionals, fully demonstrating the positive momentum of deepening cooperation and exchange among cultural institutions in the Greater Bay Area.

The training content closely aligned with operational needs, emphasizing professionalism and hands-on experience. With the theme of metal artefacts conservation, the curriculum was structured and combined theory with practice. Participants systematically mastered key topics including metal artefacts pathology and diagnosis, ancient iron smelting techniques, bronze and iron artefacts treatment and protection, and emergency conservation of underwater and excavated metal artefacts. Against the issue of global climate change, the training specially emphasized the significance of preventive conservation of metal artefacts, demonstrating forward-thinking and proactive approaches.

All instructors from the three regions were renowned scholars in their fields, shared professional knowledge and demonstrated unique technological innovations through specific case studies, providing participants with valuable learning opportunities. The training not only benefited all participants, but also fostered interactions and professional links among the conservators of museums in the Greater Bay Area.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all organizing committees and participants for their active contributions. As time goes by, the cultural relics protection and conservation work across Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macao will surely reach new heights with our joint efforts.
